Benny's mom and little brother came up for Easter weekend and we had a really great time. Trice got lots of grandma time, Benny got lots of little brother time, and I learned how to cook a turkey!
On Good Friday my friend asked if we wanted to take a little trip to see the Easter bunny. We loaded up the babes in the back seat and headed to the mall. I didn't know if Trice would cry or pull on the bunnies hair .. Mostly he just stared at it in confusion. It was pretty adorable. I decided Easter bunnies are way creepier than Santa Claus.

This is so silly, mom.

Did someone say, "Look, Barney!?"
When Benny and my dad got off work, we headed to a park in town. It was Trice's first trip to the park. The weather was GORGEOUS!
Friday night we let Trice stay up past his bedtime (scandelous) .. actually, huge mistake. Overtired baby makes for one long, loud evening! Anyway, he got a little story time in with Grandma. We stayed up too late chatting away...
Saturday morning we had quite the scare! I have a tendency to roll over and look at the baby monitor a million times during the night to make sure a) Trice is there and b) Trice is breathing. Well, I rolled over and TRICE WAS GONE. I'm pretty sure my heart instantly stopped beating. I shot straight up in bed, screamed at Benny, "WHERE IS TRICE? HE'S GONE." Benny shot straight up and yelled, "Whaty? What do you mean? Where is he?" He looked at the floor (I kid you not) and then we both JUMPED out of bed and SPRINTED toward the nursery. I stopped and caught my breath and almost fell to the floor when I saw Trice jabbering away in his grandma's arms. HOLY HEART ATTACK.
Once we realized our child had not been abducted by aliens, Benny made us a big delicious breakfast .. Mmmm..
We went and saw another Easter bunny! Trice needed a nap or a snack or something so he was NOT interested. We still got a couple quick shots.
Now that I'm a mom, I have this thing against wearing jeans with holes in them. They are no longer "cool" to me, but these were seriously the only pair I had clean... putting this on the "to be cropped" list. But does anyone else have that issue?
We took a little drive to scope out the parks in town, took a little cat nap, grilled some dogs (hot dogs you weirdos) and headed to the park. The verdict on parks -- Trice LOVES baby swings and tunnels. Trice has no emotional connection to any other activity involved at parks. None.
We hung out at the house Saturday night and headed to bed pretty early. We were zonked from all the playing! Before we knew it, it was rise and shine because the Easter bunny had arrived!!

The Easter Grandma Bunny brought a little toy wagon.

Turns out, it's Trice sized. He had a blast riding around the kitchen.

All sorts of goodies from the Easter Bunny!

The boys before heading to church .. Trice got Uncle Adam's hair.

First Easter as a family of 3!
After church, the lady folk whipped up some yummy fixins while Trice stared at the boys shooting hoops on his baby hoop! We had turkey, corn casserole, "fruit fluff", stuffing, and mashed tators. It was DELICIOUS. I realized this was the first "real" holilday meal we had prepared at our house. Woohoo! The best part? All the leftovers stay here. :)
Oh, and I also made my famous bird nest rice krispie treats. I gave up candy for Lent, so I devoured 3/4 the bag of m&m's today. Then we played the day away... after a quick photo shoot (shocking, I know.) Trice LOVES Easter eggs. Trice does not LOVE bunny ears.
Here are my favorites (yes, favorites .. meaning I have 500 more that aren't making the blog) from our little Easter egg hunt in Trice's nursery.
In an attempt to rip those ears off, he just ripped his hair out...
Annnnd our favorite game .. the drop!
Cutest little Easter bunny I've ever met. Notbiasedatall.
Hmm.. these might be interesting...
I love this Easter thing!
Are there any more, mommy?!
I wonder how these taste... don't worry - he was never given these unsupervised! No choking allowed here.
Gathering all my Easter eggs.
Take that, Mr. Rubber Ducky Imposter.
Playing with grandma!
Reading + Ab Workout = Genius.
Trice crawled up the stairs (I've never attempted this before today because I didn't really want him to know they were there.) It's a lot of work for a real little guy, though, and eventually he'd get worn out and turn around for mommy. He also worked his little mouth out trying his hardest to say "duck" .. I don't make this stuff up. I literally wish I had it on tape. Obviously, he didn't know WHAT he was saying, but he was definitely trying to repeat that crazy sound mommy & grandma were making and it was the cutest thing ever.
Monday morning came even though I asked it not to. Trice is 8 months old today! Woohoo! Okay, so I cried about it. Our little peanut should probably just stay little forever. I have this book called "If I Could Keep You Little", and I have to read it to myself every now and then DAY! I am loving all the fun things he's doing and learning. I just feel like I try my hardest to soak in every second but it still goes way too fast.
We loaded up the car and headed to Jackson singing, "I'm going to Jackson" and met up with Benny at work. He showed us around the new visitor center and Trice got to go up in a Challenger with him. He was pretty proud. He gave his mom and Adam a tour while Trice and I walked around and found lots of stuff for daddy to buy! We enjoyed a delicious meal at the cafe in town and then Benny had to get back to work and his family had to head home. Boo. :(
Dad - this is the COOLEST thing I've ever done!
Look at us, mom!
When I grow up, I'm going to make tractors smarter just like daddy (Mommy just hopes I won't wear white socks with khakis...)
Such a sweet, sweet memory (that Trice won't remember)!
Easter is one of my favorite holidays. The meaning behind it brings me more joy than I could ever put into words. It was a blessed weekend with our wonderful family. He is risen indeed!!
