Life with two kiddos has been interesting.. All new challenges and all new joys! Here's a little dose of what our toddler has been up to the last few weeks.
Dear mom,
- I promise I can do EVERYTHING.. seriously, everything.. by myself. But the second you start feeding that baby, I PROMISE my arms, eyes, ears, legs, and hands will lose all ability to function and I will return to an infantile stage needing you to do EVERYTHING for me. Right now. DID YOU HEAR ME?!
- I could do something calm to entertain myself while you feed her. That big brother box sure was a good idea, mom. But instead I PROMSIE I'll find a way to create a disaster. I really needed to put my half-full smoothie cup on the top shelf of the fridge. REally, it was necessary. My apologies that it spilled from the top to the bottom of the fridge, in every nook and cranny, all over the kitchen floor, and covered my entire outfit that I just spent 30 minutes putting on all by myself. Hey - you said purple is your favorite color.
- I know that you really do not want to get out of that comfy rocking chair while baby is eating so I know I pretty much have free range to do what I want. I wholeheartedly PROMISE to empty an entire bottle of dish soap and hand soap onto all the dishes in the sink. Bubbles are so much fun! Eventually that will get boring, so I PROMISE I will unroll the entire roll of toilet paper.. don't worry, I missed the toilet. And while I'm at it, I'll just brush my teeth with hand soap because then maybe my mouth will make bubbles. Or it will just taste really gross, but I won't tell you because I know that it probably wasn't a good idea. You should probably get the strawberry flavor next time.
- I heard you say something about being excited that my baby sister slept for like 3 straight hours last night. That sure sounds like way more sleep than you guys need. I PROMISE tonight I'll be up every time she is sleeping yelling for you. And if she needs mommy, I PROMISE only mommy will do for me, too. It's 2015 so she probably should have figured out a way to clone herself by now... no, daddy will not do.
- If you plan something really fun for us to do, I promise I'll get ready as fast as humanly possible. I'll even dress myself. I'll get my jacket on and I'll stand at that door. But the second you get my baby sister in her car seat and she starts screaming? I PROMISE I'll need to poop. I won't be able to take anything off by myself. I'll need you to assist me in the bathroom. Then I'll refuse to put anything back on or wash my hands and you know what? I actually don't want to go at all. But I promise the second you give up and taking said baby out of car seat, I'll be ready to go again.
- And last, but definitely not least, I PROMISE you I will melt your heart each morning with sweet kisses and hugs for baby. I will try to calm baby when she cries. I will rest my head on your shoulder when I'm sleepy. I will put my arm around you when I see I've completely exhausted your patience bucket today. I will be your big helper and I PROMISE to be the best big brother I can possibly be.
Love,
Your Toddler
